Mike Wilson became one of the greatest and most successful drivers in the history of karting during the 1980s. Known throughout the paddock as “Mike the Kart,” he won an unmatched six FIA Karting World Championships between 1981 and 1989 in the highly demanding Formula K category. Racing for legendary manufacturers such as Birel and later Kali Kart, which would eventually become CRG, Wilson built a reputation for his precision, consistency and raw speed. His intense rivalry with Ayrton Senna became one of the defining stories of karting during that era. Beyond the victories, Wilson was respected for his deep technical understanding of karting and his ability to constantly evolve as a driver. After retiring from racing at the peak of his career, he continued influencing the sport through chassis development and mentoring future champions. Drivers such as Fernando Alonso would later race under his MW chassis brand. To this day, Mike Wilson remains one of the most iconic and respected names the sport has ever seen.
